I didn't post at all this week because I was swamped with so much homework. It always happens that when teachers assign long term projects, they all seem to line up their due dates, so they are all due on the same day. That way when I wait until the last minute, I have tons to do. I have trouble with homework you see. It is keeping me from the American dream. It is keeping me from having the basic inalienable rights that were outlined in the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Thomas Jefferson said I had life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But that is not true, I do not have those.
Let me explain, when I get lots of homework, I don't have a life because I'm spending all my time doing homework. I can't go out with my friends because I have to finish it for tomorrow. When I get tons of homework, I am obligated to do it or suffer a drop in my grades. Thus, I have no liberty in decision to choose to do it or not. And homework sucks. When I have tons, there is no pursuit of happiness. It is more like the pursuit of maybe I can finish this and still get some sleep tonight. I do not like homework, and I wish it would cease. Homework, you are a tyrant in my life that I should rebel against. Lucky for you, I'm too much of a pussy to not do my homework. But I can say this: Homework, you're an ass.
I think all of you should go see Mocha Madness tonight. It's the last show. Everything is made up because it is an improv show just like all the symbolism we study in English class. I swear that seventy 5 percent of the symbolism in the books we read was drawn randomly from a hat. So many of the symbolism doesn't make sense to me. I don't see how a man in this book we are reading that has a beard and laughs loud is a symbol for Santa Claus. That just isn‘t a symbol, especially since the character is an Irish immigrate living in California. I was unaware that Santa Claus was Irish and lived in California. I always thought that Santa Clause lived at the north pole.
People have a way of putting symbolism in books that isn't really there. Girls do that a lot, which illustrates how differently males and females think. Guys look only at the storyline. We don't pull meaning out of nothing. If there is a fire or an explosion, it doesn't represent hell. It represents the combustion between heat and oxygen caused by a high explosive bazooka round striking that tank.
And maybe we could stop studying books in English just because they have to do with the American dream. The Great Gatsby and Death of a Salesman were terrible books. They didn’t keep my interest for more than one page. They had almost no plot and were completely irrelevant to my life. Symbolism is stupid.
